Who We Are

Bailadora was created by three occasions that turned into momentous moments. The first was when my baby sister had asked me to help her choreograph a number for her high school’s Multicultural night. After teaching her the dance, we showed our family what we had so far and my three little cousins had asked me to teach it to them! During this time, I was just showing them the moves at my house when my auntie Bertina had asked me to perform for an event she was putting together called ‘Marianas Festival’ in Oregon. I had to come up with a name for her to put on the flyers, and so my mom and I started looking in our Chamorro-English Dictionary and my mom happened to stumble across ‘Bailadora’ which means Female dancer. There our name was created. What started out as just my sisters, cousins and I dancing in my living room has now flourished into what it is today.

Today, we have 60+ dancers both female AND male, as well as drummers and musicians. In May 2025, we extended into Oregon and have grown our familia across two states!

Since the start, we have showcased our culture through family events, birthdays, graduations, fiestas, tribal pow-wows and other events, Pacific Islander events partnering with brands such as Nike and Adidas. What also has been a huge blessing was being able to travel to California for the Chamorro Cultural Festival in Oceanside, CA and being part of Guma San Lagu at PIFA (Pacific Islander Festival of Arts) in San Diego, CA.

We are blessed to be able to support our fellow Guma families across the world. We continue to work on our craft and have a great time learning and creating meaningful and long-lasting relationships.

Committed to crafting personal & memorable experiences

It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion. As a new cultural dance group, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail. Our approach is rooted in quality and integrity, ensuring that everything we do reflects our commitment to excellence.

Growing steadily from humble beginnings

It all began with a simple question. From there, it has flourished into something I never could have imagined. Being only two years in, I know there is much to learn and grow in. Also, being only 27 years old, not fluent in Chamorro, I am humbled in being able to learn from my elders and the leaders before me so that I may be able to teach my dancers and musicians.  But, it is such a joy getting to gain that knowledge and be able to help grow the next generation to keep our Chamorro culture alive and well.

Rooted in God

God is at the center of everything that we do. Before every show, we pray and give thanks to God for all he has done and continues to do for us. I truly believe that God placed Bailadora in my life, I would not be where I am today with God's grace and love over my life and allowing me to be the leader for my dancers and musicians.  It is important for me to express the importance of God being at the center, because He has blessed not just me, but every single one of my dancers with the opportunities we have had throughout this journey. I know there is so much more to come! To God be the Glory!
